Probing luminescence of rare earth ions in natural pink fluorites using Raman microscopes

چکیده

It is well-known that many natural fluorite crystals contain rare earth ions. In this work, a series of pink fluorites studied to demonstrate the use Raman microscopes allows obtain high resolution emission spectra trivalent These allow in principle distinguish differences local environment related charge compensation necessary when divalent Ca ion replaced by ion. The from Alps have grown under hydrothermal conditions, which results incorporation oxygen into fluorite. one sample Juchlistock (Bern, Switzerland), trigonal Eu3+-oxygen center clearly identified. Interestingly, China (Huanggang Mine, Inner Mongolia, China) shows quite different spectrum those Alps. sample, bands much lower relative intensity compared with CaF2 peak, indicating content Er3+ and Ho3+ emit around 520–560 nm. Literature examples show measurements differently colored can also present sharp spectra. By extension, it thus possible observe identify ions other mineral using microspectroscopy avoid misassignments corresponding observed

Luminescence and excitation energy transfer in new fluoride crystals containing rare earth ions

Spectroscopic characteristics of Pr3+ and Eu3+ in K2Na2GdF7, K5Li2GdF10 and K3GdF6 fluoride matrices are considered. Crystal structures of these compounds have been ascertained based on X-ray measurement on single crystal samples. Energies of lattice vibrations have been derived from IR and Raman spectra. Spectroscopic features of crystals in the VUV region were studied using experimental facil...

Configurational instability at the excited impurity ions in alkaline earth fluorites

The formation of intrinsic defects by ionizing radiation in some ionic crystals in the anion sublattice is only associated with the instability of the self-trapped exciton up to now. In this paper, on the basis of an analysis of experimental evidence already in the literature, we want to show that there are phenomena in the ionic crystals doped with some cations, which cannot be explained on th...

GeS2–In2S3–CsI Chalcogenide Glasses Doped with Rare Earth Ions for Near- and Mid-IR Luminescence

Chalcogenide glass has been considered as a promising host for the potential laser gain and amplifier media operating in near- and mid-IR spectral region. In this work, the IR luminescence spectra of rare earth ions (Tm3+, Er3+, and Dy3+) doped 65GeS2-25In2S3-10CsI chalcogenide glasses were measured under the excitation of an 808 nm laser diode. To the best of our knowledge, it firstly provides...

Near-infrared luminescence of rare earth ions in oxyfluoride lead borate glasses and transparent glass-ceramic materials

Oxyfluoride lead borate glasses singly doped with Nd3+ and Er3+ ions have been studied before and after thermal treatment. The orthorhombic PbF2 crystallites are formed during thermal treatment, which was evidenced by X-ray diffraction analysis. Near-infrared luminescence spectra at 1.06 μm and 1.53 μm have been registered for samples before and after annealing, which correspond to the main F3/...
